Brent oil prices edged down in early Wednesday trading but remain close to the multi-week highs reached during the previous session. Higher-than-expected US inventories led to a slight drop in barrel prices as future demand concerns resurfaced. Geopolitically motivated supply-side concerns have dominated oil markets. With an all-out war between Israel and Hezbollah looking increasingly likely, fears that it may impact the wider region and affect the global oil supply have grown. Given the ongoing tug-of-war between future supply and demand expectations, it is perhaps advisable not to read too much into this morning’s losses.
