DAX decision ahead

Decision in the DAX approaching

On the last trading day last week, the German benchmark index was not yet able to make a decision as to whether the journey will continue upwards or whether a major correction may be imminent. The problem at the moment is likely to be that the American markets are acting nervously before the inauguration of Donald Trump and that there are currently no clear trends coming from the USA across the Atlantic, which makes it difficult for investors.

Inflation figures provide the necessary impetus

The technical chart picture suggests possibilities that it could go both up and down. What is needed are impulses that can tip the scales as to where the DAX is likely to go. As early as today, Monday, such an impulse could be triggered by the inflation data that will be reported later today. Inflation in Germany is expected to pick up by 0.3 percent. If the values are surprisingly different, this could set the German stock index in motion.

RWE and Siemens Energy off to a strong start in 2025

The energy and utilities sector seems to be on the move. In the DAX, it was the shares of RWE with a plus of 2.6 percent and Siemens Energy with a plus of 2.2 percent that set the tone on Friday. This is also in line with the information from the USA, where the energy sector is also on the rise. The shares of BASF, which ended the week with a minus of 2.5 percent, and especially Bayer, which simply does not seem to be finding a bottom at the moment, continue to have problems. Bayer shares were down 2.1 percent.European equities in the EuroStoxx also fell slightly and closed the week with a minimal loss. Kering and LVMH were under a lot of pressure on Friday and had to go out of trading with price discounts of 4.8 percent and 3.8 percent, respectively.
